Division of Angiology - About Us

The Department of Angiology was formed from the Cardiovascular Department of the former 3rd Clinic of Internal Medicine, which included the internal medicine angiology, the operation of the intensive care unit and the work of the therapeutic apheresis center. These funds have become decisive for departmental work, since we could ensure the intensive care of peripheral vascular patients (eg thrombolysis),
when necessary for peripheral vascular disease through our cardiologist specialists introduced non-invasive cardiologic diagnostics and in that particular case intensive care (arrhythmias, heart failure, non-intervention ischemic heart disease) as well as our apheresis department, we introduced a new therapeutic procedure for microcirculation circulatory disease. With the foundation of the department, we have created a Vascular Laboratory with applications of Vascular Laboratory with professional Vascular Ultrasound, Arterial Stiffness Measurement, Laser, Doppler and Scanner Testing Systems, Capillary Microscopy. We became involved in graduate and postgraduate training, the biggest achievement of which was the introduction of the Angiology Examination on Internal Medicine. At the head of the department, we entered the Internal Medicine Angiology Committee, the leadership of the Angiology and Vascular Society, the DAB Angiology Working Committee and the International Angiology Union.

Five successful PhD theses, 1 habilitation defense, 1 doctorate title and 6 angiologist qualifications were lead to the establishment of the department.
